Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said
Monday that Ard El-Kaila Compound is one of the state’s mega alternative
housing projects for the residents of informal settlements in Misr Al-Qadima district . The project consists of 42 residential
buildings and a service area including a mosque, church, ambulance center,
police station, post office, youth center, and public garden.
Abdel Aal asserted that eradicating informal settlements, which is posing a big challenge that the state overcame, provided a unique experience and outstanding example of urban development that aims to provide decent housing to the residents of informal settlements across the capital.
Moreover, Abdel Aal pointed out that the executive bodies of the Cairo governorate are continuing the relocation of the residents of El-Sokar wa Al-Laymon, Hosh Al-Ghagar, and Al-Gayara informal settlements in Misr Al-Qadima district to their new fully furnished housing units in the Khayla area.
