Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal met Wednesday with the delegation of the German Development Bank KFW to discuss means of cooperation between the two sides to upgrade the urban transport system and develop the public Transport Authority in Cairo.
The meeting touched on the ongoing and future projects of the sustainable urban transport sector as well as the needs and potential investment projects at the technical level, such as expanding the use of electric buses in Cairo in light of common interest in the green economy and preserving climate variables.
Moreover, the two sides discussed means to enhance cooperation to upgrade Cairo’s Public Transport Authority through automation, developing the Authority’s garages and workshops to maximize its revenue.
The meeting also tackled developing infrastructure, establishing charging stations and electric transformers, and applying an e-payment system via prepaid card.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Public Transport Authority Rizq Ali, Head of Informal Areas Upgrading Unit Khalil Shaat, Director of the KfW Cairo Office Bernd Siegfried, Director of North Africa Region Climate and Preserving Natural Resources Department Kristina Lerman, and KFW Project Manager Charlotte Büchner.
