A new website portal, Eco-Egypt includes a green List of eco-labeled hotels, eco-lodges, Green Fins-certified diving centers, and eco-friendly products.
The two ministers also reviewed a project to integrate biodiversity with tourism in Egypt in order to support eco-tourism in the Red Sea, which is the destination for 80 percent of tourism in Egypt due to the region’s unique biological diversity of plants, birds, animals and ecosystems.
Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the latest developments in the work carried out by the Permanent Committee in Sharm El-Sheikh, which is responsible for following up on the preparations of hotel and tourist establishments in the city for COP 27.
COP27 is set to take place from 7-17 November. The event will be held at the Sharm El-Sheikh International Convention Centre (SHICC), one of the largest and most innovative conference centers in the Middle East and Africa. The complex has a variety of flexible conference and exhibition halls that will form the Blue Zone for COP27.
The incoming Egyptian COP27 presidency has identified a range of topics focused on enhancing implementation and raising ambitions on a broad range of issues related to climate change, according to the official website.
Egypt has further designated several thematic days for focused discussions, including side events, panel discussions, round tables, and other interactive formats to deliberate on and share with the wider audience, the website noted.
