Cairo Governorate held Tuesday a series of workshops as part of the “Eishha Sah” Initiative organized by the Cairo governorate in cooperation with volunteers from civil society aiming to train women in handicrafts and traditional crafts.
Meanwhile, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said that the initiative comes within a series of activities held by the Cairo governorate in informal settlements alternative areas. The activities aim to help women living there improve the quality of their living conditions and train them in handicrafts and traditional crafts in light of Cairo’s joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the fields of handicrafts and folk art.
Abdel Aal added that such workshops reflect the state’s interest in preserving Egypt’s handicrafts and traditional crafts and encouraging Egyptian women, given they are one of the new republic’s pillars.
It is worth mentioning that those workshops focus on teaching women how to overcome challenges they face to become a nucleus for the family and teaching them a craft at the same time.
