Sisi congratulates Macron after winning 2nd term in office

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi congratulated French President Emmanuel Macron for winning the presidential elections, and hoped he will continue leading his country to further progress and prosperity.

“Egyptian-French relations were and still are close and growing historical relations, and we look forward to continuing consultations and mutual coordination on regional and international files of common interest,” Sisi tweeted.

Macron won a second term in office, defeating his opponent, far-right leader Marine Le Pen, by 58.2 percent to 41.8 percent of the French vote – becoming the first French president to win two consecutive terms in 20 years.

Macron, who presents himself as “neither from the right nor from the left”, represents the model of the French intelligentsia, a former senior state employee who graduated from elite institutes and then worked as a business banker, then as a presidential advisor, before establishing his own political movement that led him steadily to Elysee.
