Unvaccinated school and university employees banned from on-site work in Egypt

Egypt’s Education Ministry announced that education workers who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus will not be allowed to work on site, unless they submit to twice weekly testing for the virus.

Education Minister Tarek Shawky explained that the measures come within the framework of the ministry’s plan to vaccinate all school workers ahead of the academic year.

Shawky announced earlier this month that 95 percent of the target number of teachers and administrators – 1,605,861 – had been vaccinated.

Over the summer, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ordered the vaccination of all university and school staff and students against COVID-19 before the new school year, which starts on October 9 for public schools and began on September 12 for international schools.
