Sisi: Shrines of Prophet Muhammad’s family members to undergo full renovation

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for the renovation of the shrines of Prophet Muhammad’s family members in Cairo in such a manner that ensures integration with surrounding services, utilities and roads.

 

In directives to the senior officials concerned whom he conferred with on Monday, President Sisi stressed that the aspired renovation and restoration works be carried out in a manner consistent with the historical and spiritual nature of such shrines, Presidency Spokesman Bassam Radi said.

 

The president called the meeting to review the executive position of projects undertaken by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, the spokesman said. Attending the meeting were the Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Amir Sayyed Ahmed, the head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Ihab el-Far and senior construction and engineering consultants.

 

In the course of the review, President Sisi stressed the importance of including lawns and architectural embellishments in the renovation and restoration works, making special reference in this connection to the shrines and mosques of al-Hussain, Sayyeda Nafeesa and Sayyeda Zainab.

 

Such works, the president added, should go side by side with efforts to upgrade the services and facilities surrounding the sites, including roads, squares and entrances leading to them.

 

The meeting also featured a review of the executive position of a number of facilities in the New Administrative Capital, especially with regard to engineering designs and various artworks in the House of the Holy Qur’an, the lawns in the Mosque of Egypt, as well as the engineering studies of the international horse city “Marabet”.
