President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has congratulated the new head of Libyan Presidency Council Mohammad Younes Menfi who was chosen by the representatives of the Libyan people recently and wished him success in his new post.
Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said President Sisi telephoned Menfi on Wednesday 10/2/2021 and congratulated him.
The president expressed hope that choosing a new Libyan leadership would pave the way for reconciliation and ending division the Libyan people have suffered for a long time.
President Sisi said Egypt will continue to support the Libyan brethren to promote cooperation between the two sides and increase coordination over issues of mutual concern.
Menfi, for his part, hailed Egypt's sincere support for the Libyan people at the political, military and economic levels, pointing out that the Cairo Declaration had contributed to ending division.
An agreement was reached to continue intensive coordination and consultations between the two sides to promote cooperation among the Libyans in the coming phase.
