MoU signed to establish KAIST Egypt

The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and the National Training Academy (NTA) have signed an MoU for KAIST Egypt.

The virtual signing ceremony was held Tuesday, according to a press release. KAIST is one of the top sciences and technology universities in Republic of Korea.

KAIST Egypt is a project that will seek to establish an educational institution modelled after KAIST to foster elite human resources in science and technology.

This MoU is an initial work for installing KAIST Egypt, which includes conducting a preliminary feasibility study.

NTA’s role, namely forging an outstanding class of managers and professionals to lead the development process in Egypt is one of the top goals of President Abdel Fattah el Sisi, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Egypt, Hong Jin-wook said a day earlier during a meeting with NTA Executive Director, Rascha Ragheb, and celebrated the MoU.

For her part, Ragheb said she expected to have a blueprint for KAIST Egypt through signing the MoU, she said, hoping to successfully model KAIST Egypt after KAIST, a source of Republic of Korea’s excellent technology.

Hong and Ragheb also exchanged views on the progress of co-operation projects between other ROK training institutions and NTA.

Two Korean institutions, the National Human Resources Development Institute (NHI) and Korea Institute of Human Resources Development in Science and Technology (KIRD) signed MoUs with NTA for human resources development in the public sector, in September 2020, and March 2021 respectively.
