President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday reviewed the latest efforts to develop a new integrated system of planning and building rules and requirements, as well as the executive procedures for the issuance of building permits.
The new measures, discussed during a high-level meeting, aim to govern the construction system in Egypt in a clear and orderly framework under the law and engineering codes, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.
The meeting gathered Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, Presidential Aide for National and Strategic Projects Sherif Ismail, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tariq El-Mulla, Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities Asim El-Jazzar, Governor of South Sinai Khaled Fouda, Governor of North Sinai Mohamed Shosha, Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Amir Sayed Ahmed, Head of the National Authority for the Development of the Sinai Peninsula Mohamed Shawky, among others.
During the meeting, El-Sisi followed up on the new building rules and requirements nationwide, as well as the progress achieved in establishing integrated Bedouin communities in North and South Sinai.
The president directed the bodies concerned to immediately launch the Bedouin communities project to support the people of the Sinai Peninsula, by providing the best community services, infrastructure, water resources, and integrated administrative HQs, as well as appointing a responsible administrative structure, and formulating the production system for each Bedouin community within the framework of the state's comprehensive development strategy for Sinai.
