Egypt to host second edition of EDEX defense exhibition next week

The international defense and military industries exhibition, EDEX presents a unique opportunity for exhibitors working in defense and military industries to showcase the latest technology, equipment and systems across land, sea and air.

The only tri-service defense and security exhibition in North Africa is expected to host 400 exhibiting companies from 42 countries at the Egypt International Convention and Exhibition Centre in New Cairo, according to the EDEX official website.

The second edition of the EDEX is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors from the defense industries sector and those interested in the field of armaments and defense industries.

Egyptian Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki has previously said that “Egypt looks forward to receiving the world's leading defense systems manufacturers,” asserting that all precautionary measures against coronavirus will be taken during the event to ensure the safety of all visitors.

The defense minister has also pointed out that the exhibition “is aimed at opening new horizons of cooperation between Egypt and different world countries in the military industry.”

In 2018, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the first edition of EDEX that witnessed the participation of 373 major defense companies from 41 countries.

The opening ceremony was attended by the defense ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Sudan, France, Greece, Cyprus, South Sudan, Cameroon, South Korea, and Somalia.

Seven chiefs of staff and as many military production ministers also attended the 2018 exhibition.
