Czechia lauds Egypt as pillar of regional stability, venue for huge investments

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi expressed Egypt’s great interest in developing co-operation with the Czech Republic and stressed that Egypt is paying considerable attention to the development of co-operation with the Czech Republic.

The president’s remarks came during his meeting on Sunday with Czech Republic’s Foreign Minister Jakub Kulhánek, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said. Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and the Czech Ambassador to Cairo attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the president praised the long-standing historical relations between the two friendly countries over nearly a century and stressed the large attention that Egypt pays to the development of bilateral relations with the Czech Republic in various fields.

In this connection, President Sisi expressed Egypt’s keenness to coordinate positions with the Czech Republic on issues of common interest on the regional and international arenas.

Interest in developing ties with the Czech Republic, President Sisi noted, also comes within the framework of co-operation with the Visegrad Group that brings together Poland, Hungary and Slovakia and the Czech Republic. These friendly countries, he added, share priorities with Egypt, especially in the areas of combating illegal migration and boosting capacity building.

For his part, the Czech foreign minister affirmed his country’s keenness to advance bilateral relations with Egypt in light of Egypt’s status as an important and basic pillar for stability in the Middle East and Mediterranean regions, Spokesman Radi said.

While highlighting his country’s keenness to enhance bilateral relations with Egypt, the Czech foreign minister made special reference to the potential for optimizing investment ties in the light of the positive developments that the national economy has witnessed under the leadership of President Sisi.

The ongoing huge national projects in Egypt, the Czech foreign minister noted, provide huge investment opportunities, especially in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the spokesman said.
