Cairo governorate continues its preparations
for the big event anticipated by the Egyptians and the whole world and the
first of its kind to transfer 22 royal mummies in a grand parade from its
current location in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the National Museum
of Egyptian Civilization in Al-Fustat area.
Cairo governor Khaled Abdel Aal asserted that Cairo governorate is intensifying its efforts to implement the action plan set to ensure the readiness of Cairo's streets for the transfer process starting Egyptian in Tahrir Square to Al-Fustat area.
The path of the procession starts in Tahrir Square, then follows Simon Bolivar Square, El-Sayeda Zeinab and Masr El-Qadima suburbs, and Fustat area.
Moreover, Abdel Aal urged the districts' chiefs to follows up on the work of raising the efficiency of roads and streets that includes paving, lighting, trimming the trees, landscaping, and removing any graffiti from walls as well as repainting.
The number of mummies and coffins to be
transported is 22 royal mummies and 17 royal coffins, dating back to the 17th,
18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties. 18 of the mummies are for kings, while 4 belong
to queens.
