Cairo Governor announces completion of Batn Al-Baqara informal area demolition

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal announced Wednesday that the executive bodies of Cairo governorate completed the demolition of Batn Al-Baqara informal area in Masr Al-Qadima district, following Egypt's political leadership directives to eliminate informal settlements in Egypt and to provide its residents with decent life and housing.

Abdel Aal pointed out that a total of 811 unplanned buildings were removed as well as relocating 1894 families to new housing units in the Asmarat housing project.

Abdel Aal also added that Batn Al-Baqara informal settlement was one of the most unsafe areas in Egypt and demolishing it was a dream that came true, noting that the demolition and development of the area have changed the lives of nearly 2000 families and contributed to implementing the state's plan for comprehensive development of Al-Fustat historic area.

Moreover, Abdel Aal assured that all the new housing units are fully furnished and provided with all necessary services, including health units, youth centers, and schools.
