Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal asserted Thursday that 90% of the demolition work of Ezbet Abu Qarn informal area in Misr Al-Qadima is completed in implementation of Egypt's political leadership instructions to eliminate informal settlements in Cairo and provide its residents with decent housing and life.
Abdel Aal added that eradicating informal settlements project highlights political leadership's keenness to provide a decent life and healthy environment to citizens to create a physically and mentally strong generation and deepen the sense of national belonging.
Moreover, Abdel Aal said that the state's vision to create an integrated community for the informal settlement's residents became a reality manifested in several projects like the Asmarat, Ahalina, Rawdet El-Sayeda, and El-Mahrousa housing projects.
The governor also asserted that the residents of Ezbet Abu Qarn informal settlement were relocated to the new housing project of Ma'aen, pointing out that Ezbet Abu Qarn is one of the hardest unsafe and unplanned informal areas on an area of 45 acres.
The governor, further, said that the Ezbet Abu Qarn area would be part of the Fustat area development project. He also added that the new housing project includes fully furnished apartments, a health unit, and schools.
