Cooperation protocol to make Cairo pavements accessible to physically challenged people

Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal, and Chairman and Managing Director of the Housing and Development Bank witnessed Monday the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Minister of Local Development, the Cairo Governorate, Misr El-Khair Foundation, and the Housing and Development Bank to launch an initiative to make the pavements in Al-Maadi area accessible to physically challenged people.

 

The cooperation protocol aims to make streets and pavements in Al-Maadi area accessible through the coordination between the relevant authorities, making it easy for people with disabilities to move and practice social activities, which will promote their positive and effective integration into society.

 

For his part, the Minister of Local Development emphasized that President El-Sisi directed the government to provide full support and care to persons with disabilities and improve services provided to them.

 

The minister also added that the ministry has always supported and provided help to those with disabilities across Egypt, noting it is one of his top priorities since he assumed office as they established the first unit for persons with disabilities and human rights.   

 

The minister added that the state is keen on providing the best services and equal opportunities to physically challenged people to empower them.

 

For his part, Cairo Governor emphasizes that the state spares no effort to support physically challenged people and enable them to face and overcome challenges.

 

The governor added that president El-Sisi always emphasizes, "The society that appreciates the value of those with disabilities and works on their empowerment and integration is the one that will achieve a comprehensive development in all fields."

 

Moreover, the governor pointed out that the governorate considers physically challenged people while repairing and maintaining pavements. He added that according to that protocol, the executive bodies of the Cairo governorate would provide necessary permits and approvals and a supervisor to help the implementation team complete all procedures. 

  

For his part, Chairman and Managing Director of the Housing and Development Bank Hassan Ghanem expressed his appreciation for the vital role of the Ministry of Local Development and Misr El-Khair Foundation in supporting physically challenged people and for always seeking to intensify efforts to provide comfort to them. 

 

On her part, Executive Director at Misr El-Khair Foundation Amal Mobadda expressed her happiness for signing the cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Development and the Housing and Development Bank, noting that the foundation attaches great importance to empowering physically challenged people. She added that the initiative would raise awareness about dealing with people with disabilities and help them in all possible ways.
