Egyptian foundation take part in COP26 as part of Pan African Climate Justice Alliance

An Egyptian Foundation has arrived in Glasgow, Monday as part of the Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) to take part in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26 summit) held between October 31 to November 12.

 

The Youth Love Egypt (YLE) Foundation Head Ahmed Fathy said that the world places great hopes on the summit to reach recommendations that would help facing the climate change effects along with committing industrial countries towards the African continent.

 

He added that major, industrial countries should be supporting the developing countries to adjust with climate change effects especially with the emergence of droughts, rains and floods that link some developing countries, particularly in Africa.

 

Fathy noted that these countries need urgent aid to protect itself against disasters resulting from climate change.

 

YLE head asserted that the foundation has been participating in all international summits related to climate change since 2017. He added that the foundation has been carrying out several events and activities related to preserving environment as well. “YLE is also honored to represent Egyptian civil society in these recommendations.” Fathy said.

 

Presidential spokesperson Bassam Rady said in Statement Monday, that Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi speech in the World Leaders Summit, which is part of the high-level segment during the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26), expected to shed light on Egypt’s stance and its pillars towards climate change.

 

He added that Sisi will be representing the countries of the African continent as Egypt is about to host the next conference on climate change (COP27) next year.
