President of Egypt's Central Agency for Organization and Administration (CAOA) Saleh El-Sheikh has said that as many as 49,360 public employees have been trained recently as part of the New Administrative Capital relocation plan.
The training programs include several packages tailored in coordination with relevant ministries and agencies, El-Sheikh said in an interview with state-owned news agency MENA.
The first package is designed for all employees and focuses on raising national awareness and job fitness, major projects being implemented in various fields, governance and anti-corruption, and digital transformation skills, he added.
The second training focuses on assessing the competency of employees, which includes motivation for achievement, emotional balance, self-confidence, decision-making, and time management.
The programs also include a specialized package tailored for developing skills, El-Sheikh noted.
The 700-square-kilometre new capital is expected to be a new home for various public agencies by the end of the current year, with thousands of public employees scheduled to be relocated there.
Government offices were due to be relocated to the new capital by mid-2020, but the step was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The NAC was among several Egyptian national projects that were due to be inaugurated last year.
However, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi instructed the government to reschedule the inauguration to 2021 due to the pandemic.
