Sisi checks basic commodity stocks, high-quality seed cultivation scheme

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi discussed Sunday a wide range of issues, including making basic commodities available to consumers in the market, during a meeting with a host of government officials

The officials included Egypt’s Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of Supply and Domestic Trade Ali Muselhi, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation el-Sayed el-Qosier, and Director General of the National Service Projects Authority of the Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Walid Abul-Magd, and Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

The president discussed the availability of sufficient strategic and basic commodity stocks and the government’s efforts to make basic commodities available to citizens around the nation, Ambassador Radi said.

He added that President Sisi directed the government to make the necessary amounts of basic commodities available in the market and enhance strategic reserves.

The president also underscored the importance of making these commodities available in appropriate quantities and prices, the spokesman said.

Discussions between the president and the government officials also dwelt on the upgrade of some of the nation’s food industry companies, including food and beverages giant Qaha and preserved food company Edfina.

Ambassador Radi said the upgrade of these companies would aim to bring their outstanding production lines back to life and enhance the standing of national products in the local market.

He noted that during the meeting, the president also discussed the steps taken so far for the implementation of the national program for the production of high-quality seeds.

The meeting, he said, also focused on a plan for expanding co-operation with countries that have expertise in the production of palm oils on the road to establishing a logistics zone for refining and producing these distinctive oils for the benefit of local consumer and exports.
