Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal asserted that the ongoing demolition of 730 buildings in the Batan Al-Bakra informal area comes in accordance with the instructions of Egypt's political leadership to eradicate informal areas in Cairo and provide a decent life to its residents.
Abdel Aal also pointed out that the relocation aims to improve the life of 2000 families residing the area and provide them with decent houses in the Asmarat housing project.
Moreover, the governor said that 34 buildings were evacuated so far, adding that all residents would be relocated to fully furnished apartments and would be provided with all necessary services.
The governor also assured that all executive bodies of Cairo governorate are working to eradicate all unsafe informal settlements across Cairo, pointing out that several housing projects are underway to relocate residents.
It is worth mentioning that the Cairo governorate distributed more than 100 Iftar meals to the relocated residents.
The executive bodies of the Cairo governorate began the demolition of the Batan Al-Bakra informal area last Thursday and the residents are being relocated respectively.
