PM Madbouly directs allocating LE 400M per month for Informal Settlements Development Fund

Egypt’s Prime Minster Mostafa Madbouly directed, Wednesday allocating LE 400 million per month for the Informal Settlements Development Fund (ISDF).

 

During a Cabinet meeting, Wednesday, Madbouly discussed with minsters of Planning and Economic Development Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Housing Asim Al- Gazzar; the government plan to develop slums.

 

Prime Minister Madbouly affirmed during the meeting that the coming period will witness the implementation of a plan adopted by the government to develop several existing cities.

 

He explained that the government realize the existing challenges that have been accumulated since several years ago; however, the government will work with its plan to eliminate these challenges.

 

On Sunday, Egypt’s President Abdel Fatah al Sisi, urged continuous state efforts and projects to develop unsafe slums in the capital, Cairo, to secure appropriate housing units for citizens.

 

During a meeting with Prime Minster and Minster of Housing, Sisi said that developing unsafe areas in all engineering, organizational and environmental aspects aims at improving the humanitarian and housing situation of dwellers of these areas.

 

Sisi in July has toured the third phase of the Asmarat housing project in Cairo, which aims at providing housing units for those who had inhabited unsafe slums.
