PM follows up providing 250,000 social housing units

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Monday chaired a meeting to follow up the implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to provide around 250,000 social housing units in new cities nationwide.

 

Minister of Housing, Utilities and New Urban Communities Essam El Gazzar, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Housing Fund Mai Abdel Hamid and Deputy Chief of the Fund Salah Hassan attended the meeting.

 

During the meeting, Gazzar asserted that the social housing fund is ready to start the first phase to reserve around 125,000 housing units which awaits the cabinet approval this week.

 

He said the new units will be available in the cities of Badr, Hadaeq October, New October, New Obour, Sadat City, New Sohag, New Minya, New Aswan and the 10th of Ramadan City.

 

Among the required conditions for reservations are that the applicants' income should not be less than 6,000 pounds monthly, the minister explained.

 

He also added that around 125,000 additional housing units will be soon announced upon directives from President Sisi to implement a project called "Housing Unit for Every Egyptian".

 

Meanwhile, CEO of the Social Housing Fund Mai Abdel Hamid said some 25,000 units will also be up for reservation with spaces of 100, 110, 120 meters for applicants whose monthly income is not less than 9,000 pounds.
