Minister of Youth and Sports Dr Ashraf Sobhi stated on Sunday that the CAF
Champions League final between Al Ahly and Zamalek will be a historic event for
both Egyptian and African football.
“It is a historic achievement for Egyptian football. It is an unprecedented
occasion for both Egyptian and African football to watch a CAF Champions League
final between the biggest two teams in Egypt.” Dr Ashraf Sobhi said.
Al Ahly and Zamalek will meet in a CAF Champions League final for the first
time ever and all the world’s eyes will be on Egypt to follow the match.
Dr Ashraf Sobhi added “We are following the preparations for hosting the final,
in coordination with the concerned authorities.”
The game is scheduled on 27 November at Borg El Arab stadium but the Weather
conditions expected in Alexandria in late November could lead to moving the
final to another stadium in Egypt.
The Minister added “This match must be organized as per the highest standards
of quality and we are ready for all the possibilities.”
