Emigration probes cooperation with Germany

Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs Nabila Makram reviewed Monday ways to promote mutual cooperation with Germany.

 

During a meeting with German Ambassador in Cairo Cyrill Nunn earlier in the day, Makram underlined the need to bolster industrial cooperation with Germany, as a major industrialized country, especially in the auto industry, according to a statement by the state ministry, she also hailed the close ties between both countries, highlighting the large number of skillful Egyptian workers in Germany.

 

Makram also shed light on her ministry's efforts to maintain communication channels with Egyptian experts and scientists living abroad to benefit from their expertise through "Egypt Can" conference series.

 

Touching upon the seminars held as part of the 6th edition of the conference, held Sunday under the theme, "Egypt Can by Industry," Makram said that the third seminar on "localizing the auto industry in Egypt," saw the participation of Dr. Mina Kaldas, a prominent Egyptian expert working for Ford-Werke GmbH in Germany.

 

In addition, Makram reviewed the latest progress in implementing a presidential initiative to combat illegal migration in cooperation with other ministries, NGOs and relevant international organizations.

 

She also pointed to some of the fruitful results of the initiative, prominent among which is the launch of the Egyptian-German Center for Employment, Migration, and Reintegration.

Meanwhile, the German ambassador welcomed the embassy's cooperation with the ministry within the framework of "Egypt Can by Industry" conference.

 

He called for boosting cooperation with the German Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC) and organizing a visit to the joint training center between Siemens and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Ain Sukhna to get familiarized with the expertise and highly efficient technologies available at the center.

 

Finally, the two sides agreed to further mutual cooperation on the illegal migration issue and exchange regular visits between Egyptian and German delegations after the COVID-19 pandemic is over.
