The National Election
Authority (NEA) declared Sunday the start date of the electoral campaigns as it
announced the final lists of candidates running for Senate seats.
The authority designated July 28 the deadline for individual candidates to pull out and for parties to amend the lists. The authority shall announce the changes on July 29.
The electoral committees
have closed their doors on July 18 on the eighth and last day for receiving
candidacy requests of Senate candidates, Head of the National Elections
Authority (NEA) Lashin Ibrahim said, Ibrahim said 912 candidates have submitted
their papers for the coming elections.
The authority announced the preliminary list of candidates along with their
election symbols in a couple of widely circulated newspapers on Sunday.
The NEA has already issued a decision on the formation of committees to monitor
the election process and report any campaigning violations nationwide.
