Egyptian government has activated the system of providing
insurance for 22 million students against death or accidents, to be the largest
insurance coverage for students in the history of Egypt.
A few months ago, the Cabinet approved a decision to establish two funds to provide insurance for pre-academic students nationwide and for Al-Azhar students.
The subscription in the funds will be with nominal fees that would be determined later by the Ministry of Education and Al-Azhar Institution.
Activating the insurance coverage would be applied this educational year 2020/2021, said Judge Reda Abdel-Moitti, the vice-president of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) in a statement.
In June 2020, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi ensured that students’ safety and health atop the government’s priorities as it fights coronavirus.
