Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal asserted on Wednesday that El-Zawia El-Hamra district is currently under extensive development work, including developing Aboud Market, upgrading the roads in the area, adding a bus stop, and expanding the pedestrian bridge connecting between El-Noor City and Ahmed Helmi Street.
Mr. Abdel Aal explained that the ongoing development work comes as part of the European Union grant assigned to the French Agency and that the market has a capacity of 146 stalls. He also pointed out that the main goal of the development work is to include the Aboud market among the list of civilized markets established by the Cairo governorate to put an end to unregulated markets in Cairo.
Moreover, the governor assigned the Deputy Governor of Cairo and El-Zawia El-Hamra district’s Chief to coordinate with the concerned security authorities to follow up on the removal of the market’s occupancies and the relocation of the vendors until finishing the ongoing development work.
