Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi instructed the
government to train its employees on modern scientific methods of management
while working in the New Administrative Capital when the state's relocation
plan to the new city is completed.
The president called for starting a new era of governmental
work to offer quality services to the public as part of the plan to build a
modern Egyptian state, Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady stated on Monday.
El-Sisi was speaking on Monday at a meeting attended by Prime Minister Mostafa
Madbouly, housing minister Assem El-Gazzar, among others, to review the latest
developments in the state's plan to move to the new capital and the automation
of government agencies, the 700 square kilometer capital, launched in 2015 by
the president, will have the capacity to house more than 6.5 million people.
The first phase of the New Administrative Capital comprises a government
district, residential neighborhoods, and a business district. The government
was planning to relocate ministries to the new capital by mid-2020 but the
coronavirus pandemic halted the step.
In April, El-Sisi instructed the government to reschedule
the inauguration of all the mega national projects, which were planned for this
year, including the new capital, to 2021 in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
Monday's meeting tackled the efforts exerted to develop the skills of human
resources with the aim of operating the new information system, managing the
digital content and archiving documents electronically.
It also reviewed the digital infrastructure and information services in the new
capital, on the levels of security, services, utility management, and smart
government, in addition to the technical preparations of the governmental
district and the establishment of a central communications hub.
The new capital's roads network and residential districts were also tackled during the meeting.
