Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal followed up on Monday the demolition of the building of the Association of Furniture Manufacturers in Magra El-Oyoun Fence area in cooperation with security forces and relevant authorities to enforce the rule of law and in implementation of the decision of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
The governor pointed out that the demolition order came as a result of the building's encroachment and its annex on the historical site of the famous Magra El-Oyoun Fence. He added that the building occupies the old place of the seventh water wheel of the fence, which delivered water to Salah El-Din Citadel.
The governor stressed the importance of implementing this decision due to the historical and heritage significance of this area.
It is worth mentioning that the demolished building was the premises of the Association of Furniture Manufacturers that consisted of a furniture fair, workshops to manufacture furniture, and a warehouse.
