Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad and Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber awarded certificates of recognition to the best-performing graduates of the Matareya Applied Technological Training Center, affiliated with the General Trade Union of Land Transport Workers. The ceremony was attended by officials from the Egyptian Trade Union Federation, the General Union, and representatives of relevant institutions.
The minister and governor were received by Abdel Moneim El‑Gammal, president of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation, and Ashraf El‑Dokar, president of the General Trade Union of Land Transport Workers, along with several union officials.
During their speeches at the event, the presidents of the Federation and the General Union said that the labor movement’s support for the Egyptian state and the Ministry of Labor across all work‑related issues, particularly in protecting workers and advancing their training, was appreciated. They stressed that the Matareya Center is a practical model demonstrating that the role of unions extends beyond defending workers’ rights to active participation with the state in preparing youth, developing their skills, and aligning them with labor market needs.
In his remarks, Minister Raddad said that honoring top graduates reflects the fruitful cooperation between state institutions and the labor movement in training and skills development, in line with President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s directives to invest in people and equip youth with the skills required by the labor market.
Raddad expressed appreciation for the General Union of Land Transport Workers’ role in supporting training and linking union activity to issues of work, production, and skill development. He added that the ministry supports every serious initiative aimed at preparing skilled Egyptian workers capable of integrating into and competing in the labor market.
Raddad further said that the Matareya Center exemplifies training directly tied to labor market needs, applying an apprenticeship system across several specialties to transform training into practical skills essential for the transport sector and other production fields.
The minister stressed that “training for employment” is a core pillar of the ministry's strategy and that cooperation with unions, educational and training institutions, and the private sector is a key partner in developing the training system to keep pace with rapid technological changes and labor market demands.
Moreover, Raddad saluted the General Union of Land Transport Workers for its efforts to enhance workers’ skills, expressing hope that this experience will expand to strengthen youth capabilities and support employment opportunities.
Congratulating the graduates, Raddad underscored that their certificates mark only the beginning of their journey, noting that true success in the labor market depends on skill, mastery, discipline, continuous learning, and keeping pace with technology. He urged them to translate their training into real value in workplaces and production sites.
Meanwhile, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber highlighted the state’s strong commitment to developing technical education and vocational training as a cornerstone for preparing qualified cadres. He stressed that investing in people is the foundation of building the “New Republic” and improving services for citizens.
Saber also praised the efforts of the Ministry of Labor and the General Union of Land Transport Workers in implementing training initiatives, affirming that cooperation between state institutions, training bodies, and unions contributes to preparing qualified cadres and linking training to labor market needs. He added that Cairo needs skilled cadres with competence, discipline, awareness, and responsibility. He also added that improving performance begins with developing people. Every investment in training and qualification, he said, is a direct investment in citizens’ safety and service quality.
The governor further stated that honoring students today is a message of appreciation and encouragement for them to continue succeeding and exerting greater effort in serving their country. This represents an important model of linking training to labor market needs and creating real opportunities for youth.
At the conclusion of the event, the top graduates were honored amid praise for the role of the Matareya Center and the General Union of Land Transport Workers in promoting applied and technological training pathways and strengthening partnerships with state institutions to prepare qualified technical cadres that meet labor market requirements.
