Minister of Local Development and Environment Dr. Manal Awad and Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber toured the “Cairo Bazaar” at the Modern Market Complex in the 10th District in Madinet Nasr, with the participation of more than 100 exhibitors and high turnout from citizens seeking discounts of up to 50% on some products.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Governors Ashraf Mansour, Eng. Mona El-Batrawi, Dr. Ahmed Anwar El-Adl, and Omar El-Shafei; Chairman of the Consumer Protection Agency, Ibrahim El-Sigini; CEO of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency, Mustafa Hassan; CEO and Managing Director of the Holding Company for Food Industries, Dr. Alaa Nagi; along with representatives from the National Service Projects Organization and the Future Egypt Agency.
Minister Awad and Governor Saber, along with attendees, toured several stalls of the bazaar, looking over the products, supplies, prices, and discounts offered to citizens.
During their tour, Awad praised the quality and variety of food products displayed, which cover family needs including school supplies and basic goods such as meat, poultry, vegetables, fruit, and other necessities offered at affordable prices. She also highlighted handicrafts and handmade products by women from the “Ayadi Misr” platform representing several governorates.
Awad added that Cairo is hosting several exhibitions and outlets, including the “Ahlan Madaris” exhibition inaugurated last week by the Prime Minister in Madinet Nasr, as well as 11 exhibitions in Giza.
The minister emphasized the government’s commitment to implementing President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s directives to increase the number of exhibitions and outlets offering food products in all centers and cities across the governorates to meet citizens’ needs. She instructed all exhibitors to continue offering discounts, stressing that Cairo does not charge any fees for participation, and pointed to ongoing efforts with other ministries and agencies to expand exhibitions nationwide.
Meanwhile, Governor Saber said that the “Cairo Bazaar” was organized in line with President El‑Sisi’s directives to combat high prices, ease burdens on citizens, and expand exhibitions that provide access to diverse goods and school supplies of good quality at reduced prices. He noted that exhibitions have been spread across Cairo, especially in densely populated and most‑needed areas, in cooperation with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, civil society, the Chamber of Commerce, and political parties.
The bazaar offers foodstuffs, meat, poultry, vegetables, fruit, clothing, shoes, bags, university supplies, school needs, stationery, and uniforms at affordable prices, with discounts exceeding 50% on some items.
Saber also stressed the importance of expanding modern markets and exhibitions that provide marketing opportunities for exhibitors and affordable goods for citizens. He added that Cairo governorate supports small project owners and producers by offering new outlets to market their products, boosting trade activity and supporting Egyptian families.
Saber added that the bazaar represents a model of cooperation between state agencies, the private sector, and entrepreneurs, balancing support for producers with providing citizens diverse products at competitive prices.
On the other hand, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Agency, emphasized that the opening and sustainability of “Ahlan Madaris” exhibitions align with President El‑Sisi’s directives to regulate markets, stabilize prices, and strengthen field monitoring. He added that these exhibitions are an effective mechanism to increase the supply of essential goods at reduced, competitive prices, helping balance markets, curb unjustified price hikes, reduce intermediaries, and deliver goods directly to consumers. He further said that the agency ensures on‑site presence in Cairo and Giza exhibitions, as well as outlets nationwide, to ensure the validity of offer, transparency in pricing, and to prevent deceptive practices.
Moreover, CEO of the MSME Development Agency, said that the agency’s participation in the school supplies exhibition, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Development and Cairo Governorate, aligns with its plan to promote products of small and medium enterprises. He stated that these exhibitions help entrepreneurs expand marketing, sustain their projects, and develop them, while providing citizens with well‑made products at competitive prices as the new academic year begins.
The bazaar, running until September 8, features participation from the Ministries of Supply and Agriculture, the MSME Development Agency, the National Service Projects Organization (Food Security Sector, National Protected Agriculture Company, Silo Foods, National Refrigeration Company, National Fisheries Company, National Livestock Company, and Sinai National Food Industries Company), the Future Egypt Agency, the Food Safety Authority, the Graduates Youth Authority, the Egyptian Red Crescent, NGOs, the Veterinary Directorate, and Bahia Hospital’s women fighters. For the first time, several school uniform factories and private sector companies are participating, offering products at factory prices.
