Al-Azhar University’s student dormitories in Cairo began implementing an electronic system for distributing meals to students yesterday, Saturday, for the first time. The move is part of the university’s efforts to facilitate accommodation and catering services and provide a suitable environment that helps students focus on their studies.
Osama Tawfik, Head of the University Dormitories Administration, said in a statement yesterday that the electronic system was introduced in accordance with the directives of Dr. Mahmoud Seddiq, President of Al-Azhar University, to provide a suitable environment for students and ensure their safety and comfort in terms of accommodation and meals.
He explained that the system allows students to register their daily leave electronically and specify the days they wish to spend outside the dormitory, as well as record their attendance. This enables the university to determine the number of meals each student is entitled to based on their period of residence.
He added that meals are distributed electronically by scanning a QR code, which displays the student’s daily meal entitlement. This ensures easy distribution, accurate meal tracking, and greater efficiency in the university dormitories’ catering system.
