Egyptian Deputy Minister of Transport for Roads and Bridges Hossam El-Din Mostafa confirmed that the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project is one of the country’s green and sustainable mass transit projects, which the Egyptian state is committed to implementing as a smart public transportation system serving citizens.
He said that the first phase of the BRT system has been completed, connecting the Agricultural Road with the Police Academy. Two additional stations, El-Mosheer Tantawy and Golf, which had previously entered service, have been integrated into the system to serve New Cairo residents, providing direct connectivity with the East Nile Monorail, in addition to integration with El-Mosheer Tantawy Axis and other public transportation services such as Adly Mansour Station and SuperJet buses.
He noted that the second phase will connect with other transportation services, including El-Zahraa Station in Maadi. It will extend from El-Mosheer Tantawy Station to Sun Capital Station and will include 16 stations.
He added that Sun Capital Station will include a charging and maintenance facility for BRT buses, as well as a passenger services building for SuperJet and passenger transport companies affiliated with the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport, serving the Upper Egypt governorates. The station will also include a regional microbus terminal, an internal microbus terminal, parking areas for private cars, and commercial and service areas.
The Deputy Minister explained that the BRT system provides citizens with safe mass transportation, with organized and reliable schedules for boarding and arrival. He called on citizens to preserve the new facility and make proper use of it.
