President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi directed continuous follow‑up on the implementation of the Unified Government Services Card system, ensuring integration of databases, operational efficiency, and support for enhancing government services
The President also said it is important to attract and stimulate investment in cloud computing and artificial intelligence, alongside expanding the construction of mega data centers as a cornerstone of the digital economy.
These directives came during his meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouli, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi, and Hani Mahmoud Mansour, Director of the Armed Forces Signal Department.
Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohammad El‑Shennawi stated that the President reviewed updates on the expansion of the unified government services card system, part of the state’s digital transformation plan to facilitate citizens’ access to services.
The Minister of Communications said that there is ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade to enhance the system’s technical and operational efficiency, with gradual expansion of the services provided.
Ambassador El‑Shennawi added that Minister Hindi reviewed during the meeting progress in efforts to grow Egypt’s ICT exports and localize electronics manufacturing. Egypt aims to reach $8 billion in digital exports by 2028, with outsourcing services expected to rise to $12 billion by 2029, and the number of companies in electronics design projected to reach 120 by 2030.
The meeting also addressed efforts to provide advanced digital infrastructure for smart applications based on AI technologies, maximizing developmental impact and deepening societal benefits. The ministry is working to integrate AI applications into key sectors, with the Applied Innovation Center playing a pivotal role in developing solutions using emerging technologies.
Minister Hindi further reviewed the progress of the presidential initiative “Digital Pioneers”, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and the Egyptian Military Academy.
President El‑Sisi emphasized the need to uphold standards of accuracy, transparency, and impartiality in selecting beneficiaries of the initiative, reinforcing public trust, especially as it prepares participants for jobs in the labor market.
