Concerning the news circulating on several online news outlets and social media pages about cutting down one of the long-lived camphor trees in the Maadi district, the Cairo Governorate stated that the camphor tree on Al-Qanah Street in the Maadi district fell naturally in May 2025 without any human interference and was not cut down. Moreover, it was immediately removed from the street, and its roots were replanted to preserve it. It was a collaborative effort between the executive bodies of Cairo Governorate, the Tree Lovers Association, and the residents of Sarayat El‑Maadi.
