Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Governor of Cairo, inspected Al-Sayyida Nafisa Girls’ Secondary School, affiliated with the East Nasr City Educational Administration, to follow up on the regularity of the educational process at the start of the new academic year 2026/2027.
The Governor was accompanied on his tour by Eng. Mona El-Batrawy, Deputy Governor for the Eastern District; Dr. Hemat Abu Keila, Director of the Cairo Directorate of Education; and a number of Cairo Governorate officials. The Governor congratulated all students, teachers, and school staff on the new academic year, wishing them a successful year.
The Governor of Cairo affirmed that the state is working to provide an outstanding educational system based on quality assurance. He noted that developing education, restoring the school’s true role, and encouraging students to return to school are among the key priorities currently being pursued by the Ministry of Education to ensure a well-organized academic year.
He called for creating a suitable, positive, safe, and healthy environment for students throughout the educational process, enabling them to fulfill their responsibilities and ensuring the regular operation of schools across the capital.
During the tour, the Governor confirmed that educational activities are proceeding regularly across all 6,292 schools in Cairo, comprising 72,307 classrooms and serving 2,578,588 students. He noted that 20 new schools entered service this year through new construction, expansion, and additional floors, providing a total of 656 new classrooms.
The Governor reassured parents that the state has taken all necessary measures to provide the requirements needed for a successful educational process.
He stressed that no student may be prevented from attending school because of delayed payment of school fees, in implementation of the political leadership’s directives that students who are unable to pay fees must not be deprived of education. He also emphasized the importance of treating students properly and strictly prohibiting any form of abuse or violence against them in schools, with parents to be contacted in the event of any misconduct.
The Governor also stressed the need for coordination among the Cairo Directorate of Education, district heads, the Cleaning and Beautification Authority, and the Facilities Police to continuously remove encroachments and street vendors and intensify cleaning around schools. He emphasized the role of educational administration and school principals in maintaining cleanliness inside classrooms, removing posters and visual distortions from school walls, preserving their paintwork, increasing green spaces and landscaping inside and outside schools, and continuing classroom maintenance.
He further directed officials to monitor the safety and efficiency of lighting, ensure that any openings in utility poles around schools are properly secured, prevent exposed wires or cables, and ensure the safety of students’ desks and window glass. He also called for maintaining school restrooms and disinfecting rooftop water tanks to safeguard the health, safety, and comfort of students and teachers, while regularly reviewing school safety measures and ensuring that civil defense requirements are in place.
The Governor of Cairo also instructed educational administration directors to maintain a daily field presence from the first day of the academic year through its conclusion to monitor the regularity of the educational process and immediately address any problems that may arise.
