“Azhar” Opens Applications for Enrollment in Qur’an, Qira’at Study Centers Across Governorates

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif has announced the opening of applications for a new cohort of students to enroll in the Qur’an, Tajweed, and Qira’at programs, with a total of more than 35,000 places available. Applications will be open from October 3 for 15 days, until October 17, 2026.

The announcement comes in accordance with the directives of His Eminence the Grand Imam, Professor Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and under the supervision of His Eminence Sheikh Ayman Abdel-Ghani, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar. The programs provide those interested with an opportunity to memorize the Holy Qur’an, learn the rules of Qur’anic recitation, and master its sciences and various readings. Applications are to be submitted electronically through the Al-Azhar Electronic Portal.

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif explained that the Qur’an study programs aim to provide an integrated educational system combining memorization, revision, proper instruction, and training in the rules of Tajweed, in addition to introducing students to the Qur’anic readings (Qira’at), through educational programs tailored to the different levels of learners.

The available programs include:

First: Qur’an Study Program for Children, This program aims to enroll 26,947 children between the ages of 5 and 7, provided that they have mastered the basic principles of reading and writing.

Second: Qur’an Study Program for Adults, This program is open to learners aged 14 and above, with a target intake of 6,000 students.

Third: Tajweed Program for Adults Who Have Memorized the Holy Qur’an. Applicants must pass an admission test covering the entire Holy Qur’an. The program aims to enroll 1,300 students.

Fourth: Qira’at Program for Those Who Have Memorized the Holy Qur’an
This program is intended for those who have memorized the Holy Qur’an and mastered its recitation, in addition to memorizing the two classical Tajweed texts, Tuhfat al-Atfal and Al-Jazariyyah.

Applicants must pass an admission test covering the entire Qur’an in both memorization and recitation. The program aims to enroll 700 students.

Fifth: Itqan Program, This program is designed for children who have completed the memorization of the Holy Qur’an and wish to learn the rules of Tajweed. It will accept only 125 children.

Al-Azhar Al-Sharif emphasized that admission to these programs will be conducted in accordance with the specified requirements and enrollment limits, with electronic applications available throughout the designated application period.
