The Ministry of Interior continued organizing the “Salamat Oyounak” (Your Eyes’ Safety) initiative under the umbrella of the “Kollena Wahed” initiative, sponsored by the President of the Republic. The initiative aims to screen school students and residents of the most underserved areas for eye diseases, in coordination with optical companies, reflecting the Ministry’s commitment to contributing to the enhancement of healthcare for these groups.
This year, the initiative focused on reaching new areas and a larger number of schools. Medical convoys were expanded to visit schools in the most underserved areas in the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria, Fayoum, and Dakahlia as a first phase, with plans underway to extend the initiative to the remaining governorates. The aim is to facilitate the early detection of eye diseases among children and provide them with the necessary care.
Students were given the opportunity to choose eyeglass designs that suited their preferences from a diverse collection of styles, in a friendly and interactive atmosphere. Prescription glasses were provided free of charge to students who needed them, helping improve their vision and enabling them to carry out their daily activities and studies more effectively.
The initiative was not limited to school students; it also extended to children residing in orphanages, reflecting the commitment to providing them with appropriate medical care. Eye examinations were conducted for the children, and prescription glasses were provided free of charge to those who needed them.
The Ministry of Interior affirmed that the initiative would continue as part of its humanitarian and community mission, demonstrating its commitment to strengthening engagement with various segments of society and promoting the values of social solidarity.
