The Ministry of Interior organized a number of events and humanitarian initiatives to mark the 2026 International Day of the Blind and White Cane Day, reflecting the state’s commitment to supporting persons with disabilities, empowering them socially, enhancing their participation, and promoting their inclusion in society.
The events included visits to schools and associations caring for the blind and visually impaired across the country to distribute gifts and white canes. The white cane serves as a symbol of independence and a tool that helps visually impaired people move around freely and safely.
The initiative received praise from students, amid positive human interaction that reflected the Ministry’s commitment to engaging with them and providing the necessary support, in line with the state’s approach to caring for people with special needs and promoting their inclusion in society.
The initiatives also included accompanying a number of people with visual disabilities to the Civil Status Sector and the General Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality to obtain official documents and certificates free of charge, as part of the facilities and services provided to them.
The initiatives also featured the issuance of a police services guide in Braille, enabling people with visual disabilities to learn about the available services and benefit from them more easily.
Police clubs also hosted some of the events, which included a variety of recreational programs and activities in an atmosphere designed to strengthen communication and community participation and bring joy to the participants.
The Ministry of Interior’s activities marking the International Day of the Blind and White Cane Day reaffirmed its continued commitment to caring for people with visual disabilities, addressing their needs, and providing the necessary facilities and support to enhance their independence and promote their inclusion in society.
