Labor Ministry disburses regular, exceptional grants to irregular workers

In line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to expand the social protection programs and strengthen care and support provided to irregular workers, the Ministry of Labor announced the disbursing of two grants, “regular and exceptional,” to irregular workers registered in the ministry’s database, with a total amount of EGP 767 million and 613 thousand. The grants will benefit 255,871 workers across Egypt.

The two grants started being paid on Thursday, May 21, 2026, and will remain available for one month through National Postal Authority branches nationwide. Eligible irregular workers registered in the ministry’s database through companies and contractors can receive the payments using their national ID cards.

The allocated amount covers the regular Eid al-Adha 2026 grant, in addition to the exceptional grant announced by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during this year's Labor Day  celebration as part of the new social protection package. This package also included three successive exceptional grants for irregular workers, along with free certificates to evaluate skill levels and authorize professional practice, aimed at supporting this group and facilitating its integration into the formal labor market.
The total value of social and health care allocated for each of the two grants — regular and exceptional — amounts to 383,806,500 Egyptian pounds. These funds are being disbursed from the central account for social and health care of irregular workers across 27 governorates.

The simultaneous payout of the two grants reflects the state’s commitment to providing direct and genuine support to the most vulnerable citizens, particularly during holidays and festive occasions.
