Minister of Local Development and Environment Dr. Manal Awad received Engineer Mohammad Abdel Ghani, President of the Engineers Syndicate, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of several leaders from the ministry and the syndicate.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Manal Awad extended her congratulations to Engineer Mohammad Abdel Ghani after gaining the confidence of engineers in the recent elections, wishing him every success in serving all engineers across the various governorates.
Dr. Manal Awad affirmed the ministry and various governorates’ commitment to coordinating and cooperating with the General Syndicate of Engineers. This collaboration aims to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and to leverage the engineering expertise of syndicate members, university professors, and specialists within the ministry’s areas of work.
During the meeting, Awad and Abdel Ghani discussed avenues for cooperation between the ministry, the governorates, and the Engineers Syndicate across several areas. Key topics included the reconciliation system and building permits, as well as leveraging the syndicate’s expertise in projects related to the development of public squares, visual identity and digital transformation projects throughout the governorates, and community and environmental services. The meeting also addressed the provision of training and specialized qualification programs for employees in the general directorates of the governorates, centers, districts, and cities, with a particular focus on engineers and relevant departmental staff.
The meeting also addressed studying the unification of certain fees related to the provision of engineering services offered by syndicate members in the governorates, particularly concerning the reports and documents required by citizens to complete some local administration services.
During the meeting, Abdel Ghani emphasized the syndicate’s commitment to strengthening communication, coordination, and cooperation channels with the Ministry of Local Development and Environment. This commitment stems from the belief in the importance of integration between state institutions and professional syndicates. He noted that such collaboration helps leverage engineering expertise in implementing national projects and supporting development efforts across various governorates.
Moreover, Abdel Ghani said that there are a number of shared files that represent a priority for cooperation between the two sides, foremost among them improving the working conditions of engineers in the governorates and ways to enhance them. He stressed the importance of working to achieve job stability and safeguard their rights, thereby ensuring professional stability, which will positively reflect on performance within the local administration system.
Abdel Ghani also emphasized the importance of developing mechanisms to ensure effective supervision of implementation, thereby achieving quality in facility construction, preserving real estate assets, reducing violations, and enhancing employment opportunities for engineers. He stressed the need to guarantee genuine supervision and local development oversight of facilities during their execution.
In this context, the President of the Engineers Syndicate proposed establishing a joint digital platform between the Ministry of Local Development and Environment and the syndicate to activate an effective supervision system. This platform would enable the electronic documentation of supervision and monitoring activities, enhance transparency and follow-up, and ensure compliance with engineering requirements and standards.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue coordinating and cooperating on several proposals discussed, with the goal of implementing them effectively.
