General Secondary Certificate students in both the literary and science streams under the new system are sitting for the first-round Second Foreign Language exam today, while students under the old system are taking exams in Economics and Statistics. Students at schools for the visually impaired are also taking the National Education exam.

The 2025/2026 General Secondary examinations began on Sunday amid extensive preparations and close monitoring by the Ministry of Education’s central operations room to ensure smooth and secure exam procedures nationwide.

On the opening day, more than 868,000 students took the Religious Education exam, while over 876,000 students sat for the National Education exam across 2,032 examination committees nationwide.

Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif closely followed the examination process through the ministry’s central operations room and coordinated with local education directorates and security authorities to ensure the safety and smooth operation of exam centers.

Education Ministry officials affirmed that all stages of the examination process—from question printing and distribution to exam administration and monitoring—are fully secured.
