Health Minister holds meeting on establishing prosthetics manufacturing complex

Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting with several ministry leaders and relevant authorities at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to follow up on the implementation of directives from the political leadership regarding the establishment of an industrial complex for manufacturing prosthetic devices in support of people with special needs.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that during the meeting, the minister received updates on the progress of work and the measures taken on the ground to implement the directives of the political leadership to establish the industrial complex in accordance with the latest global technological and medical standards, thereby enhancing support for people with mobility disabilities and improving their quality of life.

The official spokesperson added that the meeting reviewed the progress made on assignments from previous meetings, as well as the issue of securing wheelchair distribution. They also discussed the possibility of designating several Ministry of Health hospitals and training their doctors to provide wheelchairs customized to each patient’s condition.

Abdel Ghaffar also stated that the Minister directed efforts to provide qualified doctors and specialized technicians in the health directorates across the governorates to examine patients with disabilities, determine the necessary prosthetic devices for them, and dispense them. He added that the meeting discussed amending the registration of disabilities to include all types of disabilities for each patient, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, with the aim of establishing a large database that would assist decision-makers in adopting policies that serve the interests of people of determination.
