Egyptian Drug Authority denies effect of some medicines on drug tests

The Egyptian Drug Authority denied the statements attributed to it in a news website article. It clarified that a press release was issued on May 31 regarding the effects of certain common and widely used medicines on drug test results. The authority confirmed that it has not issued any other press statements concerning this matter.

The authority called on media organizations to verify information carefully and avoid publishing anything attributed to it without first confirming accuracy, as unverified reports can create confusion in drug detection procedures and spread misinformation about test results.

Meanwhile, the relevant authorities—specifically the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction, together with all concerned government agencies—are implementing strict standards for drug abuse detection using state-of-the-art equipment capable of identifying all types of narcotics and distinguishing whether a positive result stems from actual drug use or from taking other medications.
