Cooperation Protocol signed to empower women economically, Promote reproductive Health

Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Maya Morsi attended the signing ceremony of a tripartite cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Health and Population, the Ministry of Social Solidarity, and the Chamber of Ready-Made Garments and Home Textiles at the Federation of Egyptian Industries.

The protocol aims to support women’s economic empowerment, improve reproductive health services, and provide childcare within workplace environments as part of implementing the National Strategy for Population and Development.

The protocol was signed by Dr. Abla El-Alfi, Deputy Minister of Health and Population; Margaret Sarofim, Deputy Minister of Social Solidarity; and Dr. Mohammad Abdel Salam, Chairman of the Chamber of Ready-Made Garments and Home Textiles. The protocol aims to integrate health services with economic empowerment programs to improve quality of life and enhance women’s participation in the labor market.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar stated that the Ministry of Health will provide comprehensive reproductive health services, family planning, and family counseling to factory workers. Additionally, the ministry will offer awareness programs, training sessions, medical convoys, and mobile clinics, thereby supporting the stability of Egyptian families.

Meanwhile, Minister Morsy expressed her appreciation for the partnership, highlighting the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s successful experience in training and employing two thousand women beneficiaries of the ‘Takaful and Karama’ program. 

On the other hand, Dr. Mohammad Abdel Salam affirmed the Chamber’s commitment to implementing the protocol’s pillars by training and employing young women, preparing production units and family counseling centers, establishing nurseries inside factories in accordance with approved standards, and participating in awareness campaigns.

The protocol aims to strengthen cooperation among the three parties to implement joint programs in reproductive health.
