Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad received Athanasios Plevris, the Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum, at his office in the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting was attended by Nikolaos Papageorgiou, Greece’s Ambassador to Egypt, who led a Greek delegation.
They discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the field of Egyptian labor mobility to Greece and to promote organized and safe employment opportunities, within the framework of the distinguished strategic relations between the two countries.
The meeting discussed new mechanisms to activate the bilateral agreement between the two countries and to expand the number and range of Egyptian workers in the Greek labor market, particularly in sectors experiencing growing demand—most notably construction and tourism—along with several other professions and specialties. This development opens broader opportunities for Egyptian talent.
Minister Raddad affirmed that the Egyptian state, under the directives of the political leadership, places great importance on investing in human capital and developing the skills of Egyptian youth.
Raddad added that the Ministry of Labor is implementing a comprehensive plan to advance the vocational training system by modernizing both fixed and mobile training centers and introducing training programs aligned with the latest international standards. These efforts aim to meet the needs of labor markets domestically and internationally, ensuring the preparation of skilled, qualified Egyptian workers capable of competing in and fulfilling the demands of the Greek labor market, as well as other regional and global markets.
The two sides agreed to activate communication mechanisms and maintain continuous coordination between the Egyptian Ministry of Labor and the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum. This will ensure the swift exchange of information, facilitate follow-up on the implementation of agreed measures, and strengthen joint cooperation across various areas related to the employment of Egyptian workers.
The two ministers also emphasized the importance of promptly addressing any challenges or obstacles that may arise during the implementation of their shared objectives through direct communication channels between both sides. This approach helps overcome difficulties, ensures the sustainability of cooperation, and maximizes the benefits of the partnership between the two countries in the fields of labor mobility and regular migration.
Meanwhile, the Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum praised the efficiency, experience, and discipline of Egyptian workers, affirming his country’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Egypt and benefiting from the skilled Egyptian workforce in sectors needed by the Greek labor market. He noted that such collaboration supports bilateral relations and serves the common interests of both countries.
