Students in the Scientific Section of Al-Azhar's final-year secondary school completed their first-round exams for the 2025/2026 academic year by taking the Literature, Reading, and Texts exam.
Meanwhile, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber, accompanied by Head of Al-Azhar Institutes Sector Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Sharkawi and Deputy Cairo Governor Ashraf Mansour, conducted an inspection tour of several examination halls in the Maadi neighborhood to check that the exams were running smoothly and that students had a proper environment on their final day of examinations.
Governor Saber stated that Azhar education is one of the most important pillars in shaping the Egyptian character. It plays a fundamental role in instilling values of moderation, tolerance, and balance while also contributing to the development of generations that combine academic excellence with strong moral values.
Saber added that Al-Azhar, with its enlightened and moderate teachings, has always been—and continues to be—a beacon of knowledge and thought. It helps spread the true teachings of religion, confront extremist ideas, and cultivate cadres capable of serving the nation and actively participating in its development.
Saber further said that the Egyptian state places great importance on education in all its forms, with Azhar education at the forefront, reflecting its belief in education’s role in building the individual as the foundation for comprehensive and sustainable development.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Sharkawi said that the Scientific Section exams were held on schedule and were closely monitored by the central operations room, along with field and electronic follow-up teams across Al-Azhar institutions. He added that the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector worked throughout the exam period to support students and quickly address any problems, helping ensure the process ran smoothly.
Prof. Dr. El-Sharkawi stated that the end of the Scientific Section examinations is the reward for the hard work of exam organizers across the various Azhar institutions. He praised the dedication of both male and female students, as well as the efforts of invigilators, monitors, and staff who contributed to creating a suitable environment for conducting the examinations.
This year, 163,677 students are taking the final-year Al-Azhar secondary exams: 82,366 in the Literary Section and 81,311 in the Scientific Section. Exams are being held in 581 main halls, organized into 10,230 sub-centers nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Scientific Section includes 81,311 students — 41,468 male students and 39,843 female students. Exams are being held in 581 main halls, organized into 10,230 sub-centers nationwide.
A total of 22,660 teachers are invigilating inside the exam halls, contributing to full discipline and ensuring the regularity of the examination process.
