Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity and Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the "Able Differently" Fund, held a meeting to discuss the executive report of the "Able Differently" Fund for supporting persons with disabilities, highlighting the key achievements accomplished during the year, as well as discussing the fund's strategic priorities and action plan for the upcoming period.
The meeting was attended by Ayman Abdel Mawgoud, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Solidarity; Zeina Tawfik, Executive Director of the "Able Differently" Fund; Counselor Karim Qalawi, Deputy President of the State Council and Legal Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity; Hisham Mohamed, Director of the Minister's Office; Rami Abbas, Advisor to the Minister of Social Solidarity for exhibitions and conferences; and Khalil Mohamed, Head of the Central Administration for Affairs of Persons with Disabilities.
During the meeting, the Minister of Social Solidarity emphasized that the "Able Differently" Fund for Supporting Persons with Disabilities is a national entity dedicated to serving persons with disabilities.
The fund was established in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities and make them essential partners in society. She noted that the achievements made reflect the state's commitment to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities.
Dr. Maya Morsy explained that the fund aims to provide protection, care, and social development services for persons with disabilities, while supporting them in various economic, health, educational, training, and other fields.
The Minister directed the "Able Differently" Fund to provide university scholarships for top-performing students with disabilities from Thanaweya Amma and Al-Azhar secondary schools, in accordance with Article 11 of the law establishing the "Able Differently" Fund. The article states that the fund, in coordination with relevant authorities, civil society organizations, and the private sector, shall contribute to providing support and care in all aspects of life for persons with disabilities, particularly by providing scholarships in schools, institutes, and universities inside and outside Egypt, and ensuring the continuation and completion of education for students already enrolled in special education programs.
The Executive Director of the "Able Differently" Fund reviewed the fund's efforts, including the establishment of several strategic partnerships with various entities such as the Information and Decision Support Center, the Public Prosecution, the Ministries of Social Solidarity, Labor, and Higher Education, the "Helm" Foundation and Company, civil society organizations, the private sector, as well as cooperation with international organizations.
She explained that the fund's strategic focus areas for the upcoming period will include economic empowerment, education and talent development, healthcare and rehabilitation, accessibility, strengthening the ecosystem and partnerships, scientific research, awareness activities, and social inclusion, all aimed at serving persons with disabilities.
