Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem and Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber delivered 40 contracts to the owners of factories and workshops in the Shaq El-Thoaban industrial zone after regularizing their status.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Nahed Yousef, Chairperson of the General Authority for Industrial Development; Sayed Abaza, Vice President of the Chamber of Building Materials Industries and Head of the Quarry and Marble Division at the Cairo Chamber of Commerce; as well as several officials from the Ministry of Industry and the Cairo Governorate.
During the contract signing ceremony, Minister Khaled Hashem stated that this stage represents a significant milestone in the development of the Shaq El-Thoaban industrial zone. He added that the ministry is committed to achieving a tangible breakthrough in Shaq El-Thoaban and providing the necessary technical support to enhance the added value of marble and granite products.
The minister further said that the Ministry of Industry is focused on removing obstacles, delivering public services to the Shaq El-Thoaban industrial zone, and conducting field inspection campaigns to monitor progress in coordination with the Cairo governor. These efforts aim to identify Practical obstacles—whether related to licensing, infrastructure, or public services—and address them effectively to streamline procedures and provide supportive infrastructure for manufacturers. He added that the ministry is simultaneously working on the quarries file, where significant steps have already been taken to resolve sectoral issues based on comprehensive data analysis and by considering investors’ demands.
Minister Hashem emphasized that the ministry aims to improve the quality of raw materials and industrial products to meet the demands of both local and international markets, maximizing the use of Egypt’s exceptional natural resources to enhance competitiveness domestically and globally.
Minister Hashem added that the large number of applicants seeking legalization reflects a serious and genuine desire to operate within the framework of the law. This motivates the state to support all those who demonstrate their commitment and strive to develop their facilities. He urged investors in the area to promptly proceed with legalizing their status to become part of the official system.
Meanwhile, Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber said that the governorate has successfully delivered 127 contracts to the owners of factories and workshops in Shaq El-Thoaban after legalizing their status over the past four months.
This is part of the state’s plan to regularize investors’ conditions and support industrial activity in the Shaq El-Thoaban industrial zone.
Saber added that the governorate continues to take all necessary measures to streamline legalization procedures, in accordance with the directives of the political leadership to support investment and remove obstacles facing investors. These efforts help ensure legal stability for facilities and enhance development opportunities.
Governor Saber urged the remaining investors and owners of workshops and factories in Shaq El-Thoaban to promptly complete their legalization procedures to take advantage of the facilities provided by the state. He added that legalization ensures rights, creates a stable and secure investment environment, and strengthens Shaq El-Thoaban’s position as one of the largest industrial zones specializing in the production and export of marble and granite.
