Ministry of Health and Population organized a specialized training program in Health Economics, targeting 17 doctors, pharmacists, and administrators from the Specialized Medical Councils, in cooperation with the American University in Cairo and Takeda Company.
The program was implemented in line with the directives of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, to build human capacities and promote the transition toward a more efficient and sustainable healthcare system, based on the belief that human resources are the cornerstone of developing healthcare services and improving their quality.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry’s official spokesperson, explained that the program equipped participants with the latest concepts and applications in health technology assessment, cost-benefit analysis, and health value measurement to support evidence-based scientific and economic decision-making. This contributes to improving resource utilization efficiency and achieving the best health outcomes for citizens.
For his part, Dr. Peter Wagih, Assistant Minister for Therapeutic Affairs, emphasized that the program introduces international best practices and strengthens the principles of Value-Based Healthcare, supporting the sustainability of the healthcare system and the efficiency of health spending.
Dr. Mohamed Al-Akkad, Head of the Specialized Medical Councils, stated that developing qualified professionals is a key pillar of institutional development. He expressed his appreciation to the partners for their support, congratulated the graduates on their success, and wished them success in serving the healthcare system.
Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, Senior Director of Leadership Training Programs at the American University, expressed his appreciation for the effective partnership between the government and academic sectors, stressing its importance in building capable professionals who can lead healthcare development.
Dr. Randa Adel, Head of Sales, Marketing, and Market Access at Takeda Egypt, also expressed the company’s pride in participating in the event, affirming its commitment to supporting the development of healthcare in Egypt through strategic partnerships.
